With almost 7000 languages spoken world wide, we surely need some kind of universal language for when we get lost in an unfamiliar environment. And there is a universal language, made of symbols and signs. These kind of things.
These are very helpful, you actually don’t need to speak out, when you need something all you need is to find a local and point at what you are looking for and you will be directed to the right place… If only someone could be able to carry them without carrying extra things. Well thanks to three Swiss “pen-pushers” George, Steven and Florian, you can now have all these symbols on a t-shirt.
Called the IconSpeak t-shirt, it has 40 universal icons on the front so you can communicate with locals no matter the formidable language barriers. The three came up with the idea while drinking late into the night in Vietnam.
The story behind their product, is that they were confronted with a language barrier that was only to be overcome by drawing signs, symbols or icons on a piece of paper, map, or into the dirt. They thought it would be great to have an essential set of icons with you, permanently, so that you could just point on whatever you need and people would understand. Soon the notepad was pulled out again and they started listing more or less essential icons that would have been of great help during not just theirs, but basically anyone’s trip.
The tee goes for only $33 which is quite affordable considering how much time it would save you. It’s also handy when you are having one of those days when you don’t feel like talking to anyone. so you just play deaf.
