Earth Day 2020
When is Earth Day?
Earth day takes place on the 22nd of April each year. This April 22nd, 2020 marks the 50th anniversary of Earth Day. This year’s theme is “climate action” and we as Create a Tee are passionate about climate action. Climate action may seem like such an ambiguous phrase that we can’t do anything about but really, the positive decisions we make, however small, accumulate and cause lasting changes in our lives and in the environment around us.
What is Create A Tee doing towards climate action?
We decided from the word “Go” that we would focus on products that would make a positive impact on the environment. This is why we went with organic ink. Although it was cheaper to get conventional ink, we were aware that they aren’t environmentally friendly. At Create a Tee, we choose not to use harmful inks or chemicals. Our inks are vegan, organic and water-based- And we even have the certification to prove it. Our inks are not only better for the environment, but they’re better for your skin and are more comfortable to wear.
Is that all?
Not at all. Our pillows and tote bags are organic and we are taking a step further to introduce organic T-shirts. You might be wondering what organic t-shirts are. Well, they’re t-shirts that are produced using materials that have the lowest possible impact on the environment, starting from the cotton-growing process free from toxic pesticides, all the way to the point it becomes a t-shirt.
How can you contribute towards Climate action?
There are so many ways in which individuals can help make a mark on planet earth. Lifestyle changes such as walking or cycling when you can, instead of using the car is one such action. Planting trees as a community or even as a family every so often does make a difference. You can choose to purchase eco-friendly products or to be more aware of choices that leave a heavy carbon footprint and adjusting those choices.
As we celebrate Earth Day digitally this year, let’s use our time at home to think about this beautiful world we live in and how we can leave it the same or make better for generations to come.
