The T-shirt industry has terms that not everyone may be privy to. Some of the words you come across are in the t-shirt industry lingo… others, we probably made up here at Create A Tee. We’d like to make life easier for you by starting off with these five terms. Stay tuned for more 😉
Tee-preneur
Now this is an all-time favorite! You may have seen this in a number of our posts. Maybe you got it right away… maybe you didn’t. Well, Teepreneur is the birth child of two words: T-shirt (tee) and Entrepreneur. So those two words had a baby and Tee-preneur was born. We work with some of the most amazing photographers, artists and really creative minds. They have the content (their art) and we have the medium (quality t-shirts). So they sell their creative genius on using our merchandise as their canvas. Direct To Garment (DTG) Printing
Most people are familiar with screen printing but go blank at the mention of Direct To Garment printing (which we at Create A Tee specialize in). DTG is a printing method where the ink is sprayed directly onto the garment. It then soaks into the fibers of the garment making it one with the garment- kinda like what happens when you print on paper.
DTG printing gives you a wide variety of color options so you can print detailed designs and photorealistic images with almost no color limitation. DTG offers value for money because your print will last as long as your t-shirt. It’s also possible for customers to print one-offs; meaning there is no minimum or maximum order. Each item is printed on demand… which brings us to our next vocab point.
Print On Demand
You have definitely bumped into this phrase as you stroll across the Create A Tee pages. Print on demand is a process where you get custom products with your own design on a per-order basis. So if you only want to create one tote bag or hoodie, you’re free to do so. However, if you also want to make 500 different caps, we’ve got you covered. Just give us a heads up. Don’t order 500 copies and expect to receive them tomorrow 😅 This releases pressure off teeprenuers to have to stock up on products or hold any inventory in your kitchen store. We’ll only print your products once your customer has ordered and we can even send it straight to them at an extra transport cost of course 😉
Eco-friendly
We at Create A Tee price ourselves as being Eco-friendly. But what does that mean? Well, because we use DTG printing, one off’s are possible and this eliminates overproduction and textile waste. We only print what is necessary. 92 million tons of textile waste flood the fashion industry each year. DTG helps create a more sustainable business model. Our DTG printing machine was made with sustainability on its mind. Our printers produce almost zero wastewater and use less energy, lowering the carbon footprint. We also use water-based vegan inks that are non-hazardous, toxin-free, biodegradable, and contain no animal products.
Anti-microbial
And last but not least, we have the term “anti-microbial” which you may have seen when purchasing our latest edition into the CAT family: our masks. An antimicrobial agent kills microorganisms or stops their growth. So when you purchase a Create A Tee mask, you are assured that the air you breathe in through the mask has gone through a filtration process. What’s more, they’re reusable and you can print your favorite design on them. If you’re going to wear a mask all day, you might as well choose a stylish one!
